Fritz vs Tiafoe High Stakes Rivalry At US Open

The Taylor Fritz vs Frances Tiafoe Friday Night US Open semifinal showdown will be the match of the tournament as at stake is a US Open finals berth.
Fritz and Tiafoe are in position to be the first American male Grand Slam champion since Andy Roddick in 2003.
As one would expect, the pair of 26 year olds have spent a lot of time on court together battling it out, since first meeting at a USTA junior training camp in Florida. Since juniors the two kids from California and Maryland have dueled four times, with Tiafoe winning all four junior clashes.
They met for the first time as pros in 2016 at Indian Wells and the junior pattern dominance continued as Tiafoe scored the first round win 63 26 63.
But ever since it has been all Fritz winning all six matches. Fritz’s first win vs Tiafoe came later in 2016 in Winston Salem 61 64. They played once at a Grand Slam in Australian 2022 second round and Fritz prevailed 64 63 76.
Their last match was 2023 Acapulco QF, Fritz won 63 64.
Fritz, seeded 12th and winner of 8 ATP titles holds every advantage over Tiafoe, seeded 20 and winner of 3 titles, but as Tiafoe alluded, playing on Ashe Stadium works in his favor.

Great match and win for Fritz. He said after he likes playing Sinner and this semi vs Foe will probably be the more stressful match than even the final. Sinner says he has some kind of wrist injury after a fall at least one reporter cited as a phony fall to create the injury card play. I like Fritz in five in the final. Fritz is a +320

Here’s some highlights of Jenson Brooksby playing Fritz in 2021 at the Open

Maybe he’s our country’s best hope.

I watched that match, Brooksby has the potential to be the best. He doesn’t care about knocking off giants and his ambitions have annoyed certain other American players. But obviously the establishment is against him and shut him down for over a year instead of accepting his reasons for missing the 3 tests. I don’t think he has the fortitude to climb up to the elite status with the establishment against him. Hope I’m wrong though I like him a lot and how he plays and his personality.

He must be much more annoying & challenging to play than Tiafoe or Fritz for the top guys.

He was on his way to being the top American IMO. He’s been hitting balls and training while on hiatus, hopefully his best is ahead.
