Finally First Player Says He Loves Long ATP Season

Finally the first player in ATP history has emerged to say he actually likes the long 11 month long ATP World Tour Season, to contradict all the countless complainers who have bemoaned over the years how the season is too long and too exhausting.

That player is Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime who has reached the AT Finals semifinals, where he will face Carlos Alcaraz.

Question: Here and in the Tour in general, players seem to be physically or mentally exhausted or both. You look like you’re kind of enjoying it. It shouldn’t be so rare, but it feels like it is. Is that the case? What is your secret?

Felix Auger-Aliassime: β€œI don’t know how guys don’t enjoy it, to be honest. I think they lost perspective completely. I get that you can get tired. I’m tired, too. I do trips around and I go see different circumstances around the world. I mean, we’re just lucky and blessed. In my humble opinion, every day I wake up and I enjoy. I enjoy that I’m here. Even if I lose matches, it’s okay, I’m pissed for a day. I don’t know. If you want to play less tournaments, stay home. Nobody’s forcing you to be here.”

The 25 year old is ranked no. 8 and has won three titles this year, with a total match record of 50-23.

Well, that’s refreshing to hears. BTW, Courier spoke on this and he said they played the same # of tournaments back in his day and also that lower ranked players want & need the matches.

Steve, yeah it’s always been the same, the elite players want a break from the grind, the lower players want more opportunities to upgrade their status. The question is if Felix came up with this statement on his own or someone persuaded him to say it. I tend to think the latter. The reason being that he normally stays quiet on hop topics.

What about on hip-hop topics? πŸ˜†

Actually, I imagine that Felix probably is outspoken on quite a few hip-hop topics. πŸ•ΊπŸΌ

Know nothing about that. Would be nice to see Felix become more outspoken and bold, like how Arthur Ashe was against equal prize money which angered BJK. I posted the Ashe quotes on that years ago and will repost it this week.

I’ll have to be on the lookout for the quotes.

By the way, how do you feel about equal prize money? πŸ€”

Asians do tend to age well, Genku sure did too.

Interesting how he looked so good but passed away rather young. πŸ™ Any idea what he died of?

Equal prize money is a political scam by King, I’ve done polls and though there are a few men who do prefer women’s tennis, or claim to, most tennis fans prefer to watch men’s tennis. The women’s are a good sideshow and at Newport Hall of Fame Open this year, the WTA matches actually made the event better but I just don’t think they deserve equal prize money even if they played best of five at majors.

I guess it was time the Lord called him home.
