Federer the tennis champion was one of the greatest to ever play the game. And last night the harness racing horse named Federer did his namesake proud by winning the $19,000 third race at Yonkers Raceway in New York.
Federer, driven by George Brennan, defeated Bookem Danno and Bettor’s Desire for the money and paid $2.98 to win and $2.30 to place and $2.10 to show. Also competing in the race were Mad River, Jms Best Bet, War No More, Curry’s Flavor and Lennon Hanover.
It was a much needed win for Federer who finished fifth, third and third in his previous three races.
Owned by Brett Pelling Racing LLC of NJ, Federer’s victory clocking was 1:52.4.
Interestingly, there was another tennis named horse on last night’s Yonkers racing card – Stormy Serena finished in third place in the eighth race.

Federer the race horse is at the Futures level, long way to go to the Hambletonian, which is the premier race for harness racing.
