Emma Analyzes Her Latest Elite Loss At US Open

Emma Raducanu suffered another crushing loss to an elite player 61 62 to Elena Rybakina at US Open third round. It’s a pattern of failure for the former US Open champion in 2025. “I’ve lost to Iga twice, Aryna and Elena. It’s tough. When the very top play me, they have a point to prove that they’re there for a reason. Every time I’ve played one, they’ve shown that.”
“I will keep working to close the gap. Depending on the day and depending on how we match up I feel I’m getting better overall, I think I’m improving for sure in the last few months. I just need to keep consistent and put this behind.”
“When the very top play against me, they have a point to prove, they’re at the top and they’re there for a reason. Every time I’ve played one they’ve kind of shown that. So I think at the same time, while I’m improving, doing better, gaining maybe more respect, the top (players) are definitely raising their game but I’ll take that as a compliment that they decided to really lock in against me [smiles]. At the same time it does show I have a lot more work to do.”
Rybakina also analyzed the win over Emma and revealed she had to have a different type of focus against Raducanu: “With Emma we’ve practiced a couple times. I know she’s a tough opponent. She’s been playing really well. It’s a like different type of focus. I knew I had to stay on top of the rallies because she’s moving really well. It’s all about the mindset.”
Of course, no elite player will ever publicly complain about Emma getting all the sponsorship deals and millions of dollars, they would be crucified by the vicious, rotten media as malcontents and envious complainers. But actions speak louder than words and it’s fairly evident now – if you can read between the lines – the elite players of the WTA resent Emma for her off court marketing popularity success, similar to what Maria Sharapova shared in her book Unstoppable, how other WTA players like Elena Dementieva resented her millions of earnings from lucrative endorsements deals and modeling gigs.

Scoop, Rybakina undersells herself. The way she’s playing lately she could beat Emma lefthanded.
Also, do you really think Raducanu is continuing to get sponsorship deals and millions of pounds ? I seriously doubt it. Currently she’s a midlevel player who has yet to develop the techniqe and mental strength to beat a top 10 player.
As her supporter, and neighbour in London, I hope she can do this but of course she may not. That’s just life, and tennis.

Catherine, Emma has worked her way up to 36 in the world, a big rise, a year ago she was 72. So she’s going in the right direction. She got a ton of deals, not sure how many or if any dropped her due to poor results but she got those millions while Rybakina, Kenin, Krejcikova, Ostapenko, Iga did not. Sabalenka isn’t really hitting the jackpot sponsor deals either. Rybakina has those two coaches now Vukic and Sanguinetti, seems to be working well so far. Not sure who is in charge but it seems Vukic is though Sanguinetti has a proven track record with several players and he was an excellent player himself with wins over Federer, Safin, Kafelnikov, Moya, Roddick). Vukic never came close to the ATP World Tour though he did earn some ranking points in Satellites.

Unfortunately Elena met her fate at the hands of Marketa Vondrousova so maybe she did give her all against Emma on this occasion…..

Right Catherine, Rybakina and others get more motivated to thrash Emma than the Vondrousovas of the world.
