Drug Ban For Another Irrelevant Player

Latest doping bannee Parikshit Somani of India played a total of four ATP singles matches since 2023. Did they catch a patsy or is he a set up for some kind of public relations campaign?

The 26 year old doubles journeyman has no ATP ranking in singles or doubles today. His career best ranking was 256 in 2023.

Somehow this obscure Indian was getting into qualies in Challengers in Italy last year with no ATP ranking.Either he had connections, a big budget or we won’t speculate any further. Somani’s career total prize money earnings are $31,085.

Somani’s last ATP matches were at Biella Challenger in September 2025, he lost in singles first round qualies and lost in doubles semis 46 46 to Gadamauri/Sels, both ranked outside 700. Sonami was ranked 291 at the time of that match.

In all likelihood, the 2-4 year ban will end Sonami’s career, one that nobody will remember or forget.

Right, and that was just for doubles.

The good ol’ ATP—they just won’t allow an ounce of corruption on the tour. 🤡

Only catching the most irrelevant players is a sort of red flag.
