Former ATP no. 48 player Jared Donaldson is now an analyst for Los Angeles based Fortress Investment Group. He was previously a founding partner with D & D Realty Management in Providence, RI which launched in 2012. He served as an intern with Blackstone in 2024.
In recent years after his playing career ended after two knee surgeries,Donaldson helped coach at the University of Pennsylvania and Cal Berkeley on the men’s tennis staffs as a volunteer assistant coach.
Donaldson, a Chepachet, Rhode Island native, reached a career-high ranking of 48 on the ATP World Tour in March 2018, and qualified for the ATP Next Gen in 2017.
Donaldson’s Grand Slam results include reaching the third round of singles at the 2016 US Open and 2017 Wimbledon; he also reached the second round of the 2018 French Open. In all, the American reached the main draw at ten grand slam events from 2014 through 2018.
His best result at a 1000 was quarterfinals at the 2017 Cincinnati Masters. The following year, he reached his first ATP event semifinal at the 2018 Mexican Open, which earned him the no.. 48 ranking.
At onetime Donaldson was a top American prospect. He scored wins over Grand Slam finalists Stefanos Tsitsipas and Marcos Baghdatis, as well as Grand Slam semifinalists Lucas Pouille, Diego Schwartzman, and Roberto Bautista Agut, all of whom are former Top 10 players in the world.

I remember him. He was good and had some tense outbursts on court.

Donaldson was really good. I have a lasting memory of him. At Delray Beach, he and Delpo were practicing on adjacent courts and Delpo was watching Donaldson’s footwork drills, Delpo seemed curious and concerned about Donaldson’s rise. It was when Donaldson was around 50 and seemed like a top 20 threat.

Agreed, he was gonna be a top 25 mainstay i felt. Good on all surfaces if i remember. Was disappointed that he disappeared so young. His FO outburst was legendary. “SHOW ME THE MARK!”

I remember watching him play at 2016 Miami Open qualies with a friend from Rhode Island and he lost in 2r to Alejandro Gonzalez in three sets then got in main draw as LL and lost to Nishioka 36 46 and looked like he was way out of his league in the ATP. Then later that year he made 3R at US Open as a qualifier, he beat 14 seed Goffin, Trociki and lost to Ivo. At 2018 he forced Dimitrov to 10-8 in the fifth set in 2R. Then 2019 was his last year. He played four tournaments and only won one match but he finished all of those matches, no injury retirements. Donaldson’s final ATP match was at Miami Open qualies 1R a 26 36 loss to Rublev. They say it was foot and knee injuries. Last time I saw him he was at US Open qualies as a fan with friends watching Martin Damm vs Mochizuki. Donaldson was barely recognizable, a little heavy wearing an older white Stanford t shirt. Nobody noticed him and it took me a few minutes to realize it was him two rows ahead of me.
