Djokovic Wins 1000th Match

The tennis establishment tried to destroy and assassinate the character of Novak Djokovic in January but the diabolical scheme has failed.

34 year old Novak Djokovic is still ranked no. 1 in the world and he has regained his top form at Rome Masters with thrilling, exciting, high level wins vs Stan Wawrinka, Felix Aliassime-Auger and in the semifinals Casper Ruud, which was the 1000th ATP singles win of the Serbian’s career.

Ruud said to Novak at the net handshake with a big smile, “I’m glad I have some part of your history.” Djokovic replied, somewhat surprised, “It’s okay. Good luck.”

Novak is now the fifth player of the Open Era to reach 1000 match wins. Today in the final of Rome he will face Stefanos Tsitsipas and if he can win it will break his record of 37 current Masters Series title wins.

The first match of Djokovic’s ATP career was in Umag vs Filippo Volandri in July 2004, a 67 16 loss to the 65th ranked Italian. Djokovic, at that time, was 17 years old and ranked 368. Djokovic’s first ATP main draw match win came two months later in September 2004 Bucharest, Romania vs 67th ranked Armaud Clement 26 64 64. Djokovic lost his second round match to 54th ranked David Ferrer 64 46 46.

In his second ATP main draw in Bangkok later in September 2004, Djokovic was defeated by 81st ranked Dennis van Scheppingen 64 57 46.

Djokovic established himself as an ATP force in 2005 as he recorded an 11-11 match record and reached the top 100 after winning two rounds at Wimbledon vs. Juan Monaco and a five set marathon win vs Guillermo Garcia Lopez 36 36 76 76 64 (he lost to Sebastien Grosjean in four sets in the third round).

Djokovic wins Rome 60 76 vs Tsitsipas. 38th Masters title for Novak. Tsitsipas says after to Novak, “I hope I can reach your level someday.”

The win is monumental for Novak. In January the establishment and media tried to destroy Djokovic via character assassination. But today he regained his top level and “David” conquered the establishment “goliath.” Good overcame evil.
