Cash/Tracy Win Sarasota Then Rush To Barcelona
2 Comments · Posted by Scoop Malinowski in Bios

The doubles duo of Robert Cash and JJ Tracy won the Sarasota Open doubles title late this afternoon vs. Martinez/Gomez 62 76 but they didn’t have much time to celebrate the championship.
Because the two Americans learned they have an entry in Barcelona 500 qualifying draw as alternates, meaning they have a big opportunity to play in an ATP 500 event if they can fly to Barcelona tonight and play the match tomorrow against wildcards Inigo Cervantes and Oriol Roca Batalla.
24 year old Cash and 22 year old Tracy starred at Ohio State University and have battled their way out of doubles obscurity on the Challenger and Futures circuits, to being on the verge of breaking in as a potential formidable top 20 team on the ATP World Tour.
Cash is six-foot-four and an threatening and disruptive force at net. Tracy is the steady, consistent operator who plays the percentages. This year the Cash Tracy duo won Cleveland Challenger, made semifinals at both Dallas and Delray 500s. Tracy is ranked 74 now and Cash is 89 but their rankings will go up on Monday with the Sarasota points.
Let’s see if they can catch their flights from Sarasota Bradenton airport to the northeast, Boston or Philly, and then reach Barcelona in time to compete in Barcelona.

Hey Scoop, i never made it out there obviously. Too many moving parts in my case. Another time for sure.
Looks like Tracy and Cash were walked-over… i guess they were unable to reach Barcelona on time?

Always next year Cory. I asked about that why Tracy/Cash defaulted, but no answer yet. My guess is they canceled the trip but when I get the straight answer will share it here. Mmoh beat Barrios Vera yesterday in Tally 62 63 to avenge the 3 set loss last week in Sarasota. Mmoh’s coach is on my suncoast league team and is my frequent partner, Andres Alarcon, so I asked if there was a new strategy and he said, yes, “move the ball a bit more with the backhand line, it worked today.” 🙂 Vera was tough though and fought back from 05 to 35 in the second set, saved several MPs and Mmoh had to overcome some adversity, he was quite relieved after. Important win for Mmoh. I think he will flow after this.
