Borg, Hewitt Ready To Rumble In Challengers

Leo Borg is scheduled to play his first round ATP Challenger match in Champaign, IL tomorrow vs Stefan Kozlov, ATP 458. Borg, the 22 year old son of former ATP no. 1 Bjorn Borg is ranked 546. Leo Borg has a career ATP match record of 5-12 and his best ranking was 334 in 2023.
Coached by Richard Billing, Borg is right handed with a two handed backhand, he stands 6-foot-tall and weights 169. He does not play the style of his famous father and his court appearance also does not stand out as he typically plays wearing a baseball cap.
Kozlov’s diverse arsenal and counterpunching skills will not be easy to overcome. Borg vs Kozlov will be a very interesting face off between two players looking to build momentum into 2026.
Cruz Hewitt is playing the main draw of Brisbane Challenger as a 16 year old ranked 818. Hewitt, who is coached by former ATP player Peter Luczak, will face off against compatriot 5 seed James McCabe, in the first match on stadium court.
Young Hewitt, who will turn 17 on December 11, stands 6-1 and weighs 154. On court, the fiery Hewitt has a similar arsenal of his 5-10 father – a two handed backhand – but his body type and athleticism more resembles Sinner. Hewitt has made slow progress this year at such a young age and lost early and decisively at junior Wimbledon and US Open by the same scores of 36 06.
The 22 year old McCabe ranked 192, coached by former ATP champion Wally Masur, will present a step up in class and a difficult challenge for Hewitt. But for a kid who has already hit with Sinner and deMinaur, Hewitt won’t be overwhelmed. The general consensus is Hewitt is on the path to be a future star in the sport, with a few more years of professional seasoning and experience under his belt.

Borg hasn’t done anything in Challengers in two years but he keeps on plugging. Kozlov has been grinding it out in Challengers for 12 years now, I believe he will figure it out, he has the skills and shots, just for some reason(s) hasn’t put it together yet. Hewitt is very young and could break out at any tournament. The pressure of his name will be an obstacle th0ough.

Hewitt won easily vs McCabe 62 61 which was a surprise and Kozlov also routed Borg 61 60, winning ten straight games to finish the job.
