Status: Currently ranked 467. Has won Wimbledon five times and US Open twice. Also won fourteen Grand Slam doubles titles and two more in mixed. Also won four Olympic gold medals, one singles, three in doubles.

Childhood Heroes: Pat Cash – when I was seven. Boris Becker – I used to serve like him. John McEnroe.

Hobbies/Interests: Shopping. Surfing. Russian history. Chinese culture. Fashion design. Rollerblading. Languages.

Pre-Match Feeling: It depends… if it’s first round, I’m a little bit nervous. Any other round, I’m ready to go!

Favorite Meal: Chinese.

Favorite Breakfast Cereal: Fruit Loops.

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: Grape sherbet.

Funny Tennis Memory: One time we were playing doubles and the girl missed the backhand and she swung all the way around (Venus imitates a 360 degree spin). Serena and I – we had taken over by then, we won 60 60 – and we were laughing. We were going, Oh my God! Serena was like, Stop, cause she could hear me. The whole match we were laughing. It was just so much fun.

Greatest Sports Moment: There are several. Is that okay? First doubles match with my sister Serena (1997). We won our first round against the no. 8 seeds. And we didn’t have a ranking and it was our first doubles match (pro) and everyone’s saying, Oh, go out there and have fun. No one expected us to win. We thought we were gonna win. So we won that match.

Most Painful Moment: Hmmm…wow…maybe my losses at French Open and Wimbledon (1997).

Musical Tastes: Green Day, Hole, The Toadies, Our Lady Peace, Rancid, Jackson Five.

Favorite Movies: Shawshank Redemption, Tommy Boy, Friday, The Coneheads, Endless Summer I, II, Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore, Ace Ventura, Meteor Man, horror films.

Favorite Athletes To Watch: Steve Young. I met him at Monday Night Football game a few years ago. And Sumo wrestlers.

People Qualities Most Admired: I like to see people who have a sense of humor. People who are sensible, who make good decisions, people who know what they want. People who have good morals, things like that.

One wonders if Venus will retire… ranking almost 500… Clearly she can still play but one wonders if she could maintain a top 100 ranking even if she were situated there. Still great skills but injury prone and lumbers around the court so slowly. Always loved her game and tenacity.

Cory, she’s done. She was in Delray yesterday supporting her good friend Opelka, Serena was there too supporting Dimitrov. Both played same day, afternoon and then night session so Venus was there like nine hours. Venus just can’t win anymore, or enough to be a top 100 player. Imagine both will try to get wildcards into Wimbledon and US Open and hope for one last run. Cant imagine both will depart the pro tennis scene quietly without a big fanfare.
