Funniest Player Encountered: “I would say Daniel Koehlerer [smiles].”
Funny Tennis Memory: “Tough to say. There’s so many funny moments during the year…I need to use a joke. I cannot answer this.”
Embarrassing Tennis Memory: “Maybe once I broke all my racquets and didn’t have any racquets to finish the match. (As a junior?) It was pro. In France. (Against who?) I don’t remember, it was so far away. I finished it with a broken racquet.”
Strangest Match: “Actually, I played the tournament in Brisbane in 2010, we stopped in breaker of third set because of lights went out. We had to wait something like 30 minutes to finish the match. It was 4-3 when we stopped. Against Carsten Ball. I won 9-7.”
Favorite Players To Watch: “I would say, if I need to sit for one match, it would be for Vincent Millot. Because he’s a real good friend. And he’s really funny to watch. He’s playing the match, if he has something to say, he’s gonna say it pretty loud [smiles]. So everyone can enjoy this match.”
Why Do You Love Tennis: “I think it’s a really interesting sport. We move a lot on the court, we need to have good tactic, technique. I think that maybe the main reason that I love the sport is because I’m good at it [laughs]. I like to win. I’m a good competitor. Yep. Maybe that. The love of the win [smiles].”
People Qualities Most Admired: “I would say honesty, humor and patience.”

Am surprised Mannarino is so small. If his weight of 145 lbs. is accurate, that is even smaller than Denis Shapovalov. Scoop, thanks again for a Biofile. You feel as though you know the player a bit after reading one. And Mannarino could even describe the book he'd read! I was impressed. 🙂

Cheers for the interview, Scoop. I was shocked too when I saw how light he is for 6'0. Along with Dolgopolov, he has to be the 2nd most effeminate dude on tour also. I always think, apt name, as he has an odd manner about him, hence the name. Hits some nice shots though at times.

Thanks Front 242. Mannarino does have a softness about his demeanor on the court in singles but he's a lot more expressive and animated in doubles. With his natural talent and touch if he had half of Nadal or Hewitt's intensity he'd probably be a top five player. Nice to see yet another player give respect to Marcelo Rios.

I'm pretty sure he weighs more than that as Mannarino's around the same height as Gilles Simon, but looks like 1.5 times Simon's size (not that it's anything noteworthy in of itself, as your average ATP player is like 2 times the size of Simon). Those weights tend to be unupdated (thus out of date) more often than not — like a decade out of date or more. I remember the ATP website had (for the longest time) Kafelnikov at 160 lbs (when, with Stefanki, he obviously looked considerably bigger than that); they finally corrected his weight to 185 lbs after a few more years, but by then he was in his last year of tennis. And he's far from the only player in that regard.
