Got an invite to talk US Open with BBC but it came too late in the afternoon and I had to deal with prior commitments…
In my career I have been interviewed by ESPN and New York Times so this would have been a special moment to be on BBC. Hopefully there will be other invites and opportunities in the future…
Dear Scoop Malonowski,
My name is Cristobal Vasquez, and I’m a journalist with BBC News. We are seeking to speak with you about tonight’s historic US Open semifinal, which will see two Black Americans, Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe, face off for the first time in the Open Era.
Gael Monfils could be an ideal guest, but we are open to other tennis starts as we understand he is a long shot.
This would be a five-minute TV interview via Zoom tonight at either 7:00, 8:00, or 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time. We’d like to discuss the significance of the match, what it means for U.S. tennis, and the example it sets for younger generations.
We are also flexible and can arrange a pre-recorded interview earlier if that works better.
I look forward to hearing from you,
Cristobal Vasquez

You could’ve told them what a trash heap the U.S. Open has become, but I’m sure they would’ve bleeped all that out. 😹

Sam, it was more emphasis on the all black Foe Shelton semi. But I thought the puppetmasters always tell us not to see colors.
