Andreescu Playing ITF $35K In Bradenton

While most of the tennis world is in Australia getting ready to play the season’s first Grand Slam major tournament, Bianca Andreescu, former US Open Champion in 2019, is playing in a W35 ITF Pro Circuit tournament this week at Inspiration Tennis Academy for a total purse of $30,000. She is with her coach, Dusan Vemic, former ATP player and coach of Novak Djokovic.

Andreescu is currently ranked 225 in the world. She will be top seed. The second seed is Hina Inoue who is ranked 244.

American teen Julieta Pareja from California, ranked 347, is also competing in the Bradenton tournament.

The tournament, which will be contested from Jan. 12-18, is sponsored by Solid Rock Construction presented by Reel Coastal Properties. Main draw begins Tuesday.

The Canadian has won three WTA titles, almost $10m in prize earnings and her best ranking was world no. 4.

Tennis fans can watch the action all week for free.

Really looking forward to seeing Bibi play live in such a small venue. This is very rare to see an elite world class player up close. Bibi is only 25 and should be in her prime. She has been bothered by injuries and hiatuses but at her best she was a superstar player with a penchant for the dramatic. She is a big stage performer and loves to put on a show. Will be fascinating to see how her play and act transfers to such a small venue as the very small Inspiration Academy which is about ten courts squeezed into a small lot next to a public park and a private school. Go Bibi!

Bradentonfan, I will be there tomorrow to see her play, hope to see you there. Bibi at her best always put on a good show and had the potential to be no. 1. I remember a couple of years ago she got in top shape and intended to make a big run but the results didn’t happen and it deflated her. Now she’s trying again, she’s definitely an interesting player with still heaps of potential.
