Americans Seek To Revive Careers At Cary Challenger

A group of young and veteran Americans are playing in Cary Challenger in North Carolina hoping to spark their careers.

Donald Young and Ryan Harrison are both ranked outside the top 600 but they both qualified into the main draw.

Tennys Sandgren also is ranked around the same range and got into the tournament as an alternate and won his first round main draw match vs. Brit Aidan McHugh 64 62.

Mitchell Krueger lost in the first round to another American Keegan Smith 63 76.

One-time highly touted junior from IMG Michael Mmoh beat Brit Dan Cox 60 63. Mmoh, now 24 year old, is ranked 156 and coached by his dad Tony Mmoh.

21 year old Govind Nanda, ranked 367, just beat Rinky Hijikata 62 63.

Stefan Kozlov is now on court vs another American Cannon Kingsley and they are deadlocked at 26 62 20 deuce. Kozlov just saved a break point on a Kingsley forehand into the net and screamed an extended CMOONN!

Also in the draw is the 17 yr old Chinese player Juncheng Shang, who is now coached by Marcelo Rios, and in the last month has won a Challenger in Lexington and finaled at another in Granby.
