Years ago a reporter asked Andre Agassi if he felt that Federer-Roddick could evolve into a classic ATP rivalry…
Andre Agassi: “I mean, so many things really have to come together for a rivalry to take that sort of form. There’s certainly potential for it. You’ve got two of the top players in the game that are young, looks like they’re both going to be around a while. You got that working. You know, Pete and I, we’re more contrast in styles of play and personality than I think you would see with Roger and Andy. I mean, that also adds to the element of a rivalry. I mean, Pete and I couldn’t have played the game more opposite. So that’s a big factor. But ultimately, it’s going to be them playing big matches a number of times for that to sort of settle into its own place in the game.”
This evaluation suggests Carlos vs Sinner is not an intriguing rivalry because they play similar baseline styles, though Carlos has more dimensions with drop shots and net advances. Carlos and Sinner also have the same politically correct personalities, there has not yet been even a hint of dissension or turbulence in their friendly relationship.
Right now there are no fascinating rivalries in ATP. The ATP needs to address this void.

Unless, of course, the ATP is thinking about partnering with the makers of Lunesta. ๐ผ

Sam I don’t even know what Lunesta is? ) But I do know Tame Impala just released a new album called Deadbeat and the song “Dracula” is a solid hit and sustains the level of Tame Impala excellence.

I actually heard that song a couple of weeks ago, and thought it was pretty good.

Nice to hear that Tiafoe inspired their album! ๐คญ

Sam I don’t like the Deadbeat album title and the negative connotations it vibes. I believe that is pressure from the demonic entity that controls the music industry which always tries to dumb down and negatively influence youth in a bad way, examples are glorifying drugs and promiscuity, rap violence and hatred of police. The deadbeat and loser song title are part of their manipulation tricks.
