Using age 36 as the measure, if the tennis gods desire it… Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have 14 and 13 years respectfully to surpass Djokovic. Carlos – 20 slams in 14 years and Sinner – 22 slams in 13 years, 1-2 slams for every year.
Iga Swiatek trounces Amanda Anisimova 60 60 to win the Ladies’ title. She won the 2018 girls junior title by beating Leonie Kung in the final 64 62. In the 2018 Wimby QF she beat Emma Raducanu 60 61 and in the semi dispatched Xinyu Wang 75 76. Iga was unseeded in the draw and in the first round round bested the top seed American Whitney Osuigwe 26 63 63.
Iga still has never lost a Grand Slam final (6-0)… Four French Opens and one US Open and Wimbledon. She made semifinals twice at AO (2022, 2025).
Novak Djokovic after losing to Jannik Sinner, his fifth loss in a row to the Italian: “I probably have to revisit everything and see with my team and family how I want to proceed with my schedule and where I want to peak and how I want to train. The Telegraph headline: “Awful look for Wimbledon to have two players who served drug bans in the finals” Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner both have served drug bans in the last year.
Sinner and Swiatek both gave hardly believable stories as to why they both failed drugs tests for performance enhancing drugs. It was kept secret for months and both players were allowed to keep on playing before they negotiated short bans so neither missed competing in a single slam.
Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool are the 2025 Gentlemen’s Doubles Champions. With a 62 76(3) victory over Rinky Hijikata and David Pel, the pair become the first all-British team to win a Grand Slam men’s doubles title since… 1936. That’s 89 years.

I hope Amanda Anisimova knows that Andy Murray was 0-4 in his first slam finals. It sometimes takes a while to figure out how to handle a gigantic finals match against champions. Really hope she can get a slam.

Catherine, she won junior Wimbledon too, she’s always been a fine grass court player. Wonderful to see Iga able to “play freely” again. Not sure Wim deserves much credit – what did he really do for her? – Iga knows how to play and win big titles. It’s just a matter of being able or allowed to “play freely.”

Steve, Yes “stage fright” is a factor in big time tennis. Rookie ATP pro Bill Ackman referred to “stage fright” as for a reason for his subpar performance in Newport doubles. Natasha Zvereva also had it in the FO final vs Graf. Tough sport, there’s nowhere to hide. I’m sure Anisimova will find her way back to a major final.

They’re all on drugs of some form, at some stage of their schedule. The light slaps on the wrists of top players was very surprising for not being covered up. Just a generation ago, the decision makers never dared to taint fed, nadal, murray, djoko, whom I believe are not above suspicion. I think Serena had an incident when she wasn’t available for a random test, citing a break-in then went hiding in a panic room in FL..

An ex player told me there was a big rumor one year at French Open all the QFists tested positive except for Karbacher and Stich, which would have made for an awful final. Yeah, given the demands of the schedule, these players need help. Tennis is so physical today. Let the players use PEDs to keep up with the grueling schedule I say.

I was happy to see Simona Halep in favour at Wimbledon and watching the women’s final – I’ve always felt she was badly treated, the close of her career sullied and certain other individuals skipping away without a stain on their reputations – nothing that would stick anyway.
I heard that Iga initially dug her heels in when faced with Wim’s advice then he showed her his coaching record and she changed her mind. Only Fisette could have got Angie Kerber over the line at W’don – his reward of course was the sack.

Halep’s career was ruined by the drug test. The tennis deep state wanted her out so they got rid of her. The optics are she was she used peds and got busted and accepted her fate after accruing all the benefits and rewards. Iga was allowed to “play freely” in this Wimbledon, no (bad matches vs) Coco standing in her path.
