14 Year Old Lani Chang Making Pro Impact Already

Lani Chang is just fourteen years old but she is already winning professional matches on the ITF Pro Circuit.

The daughter of former Roland Garros champion and ATP world no. 2 Michael Chang is currently playing a $35,000 ITF in Orlando, FL where she won two matches in the qualifying draw both in straight sets.

In the first round of the main draw Lani Chang faced the recent graduate of Cal Berkeley Lan Mi, an American 20 year old ranked 777 on the WTA World Tour and one of the most tenacious fighters you will ever see compete. But young Lani prevailed 60 57 62 against Mi, who won over 80 singles matches in two years at Cal after playing her first two years of NCAA tennis at Cornell.

In the second round Chang lost to Russia’s 20 year old Anastasiia Gureva 16 06.

In May, Chang played her first ITF pro event, a $15k in Orlando and made it to the semis, where she lot to Mayu Crossley 16 36.

As a pro, Chang already had compiled a 10-4 match record on the ITF pro circuit.
