Usual Suspects Duel Down Under In Mens Semis

Here we go again, Federer vs. Murray and Djokovic vs. Ferrer.

#1 Djokovic will be a heavy favorite to top feisty Ferrer but Murray vs. Federer promises to be an epic war.

How do you see it playing out?

A Djokovic vs. Federer final is the most intriguing for me but I think Murray will defeat Federer.

Murray should win, though it doesn’t seem like he’s been tested yet this year, and hasn’t played a night match either. If Federer is going to win, he’ll need to get off to a good start.

I don’t know but if Fed ends up getting #18 this slam would be special as he would have vanquished the young stars as well as the #3 & #1 seeds –not to mention Tsonga!

Seems the betting sites are favoring Murray. Murray should have a confidence will many easy wins heading in.

Federer “should” be drained from the Tsonga match. But Federer has one intangigle: it’s a slam vs. Murray, and Federer hasn’t lost that match yet. However, Murray is the favorite and I think Murray should win the AO. But who do I want to win the AO? Ferrer.

Because all the slam surfaces play essentially the same we get the usual suspects at the end of tourneys. They need to crank up the variety. I know the Aussie is reported to be playing 10% faster but let’s crank that up higher. Let them make Wimby as fast as possible with bad bounces and the FO as slow as possible. Let them water down the clay between every set. I’m so bored of the baseline robots whose idea of variety is a drop shop every once in a while.

Here in Costa Rica, the tennis world feels very far away. We had a minor earthquake last night, a common occurrence apparently here, and I felt my room shift like it was a lob caught in the wind. I was surprised three times so far in this tournament, actually four. The first was to see Wawrinka of all players, extended Djoko so deep into a fifth set. The second was Serena’s loss and then Sharapova’s and to see Djoko handled Ferrer so easily in the semis.

I do wish I could watch the Fed/Murray match, but I’ve got yoga clases to take and teach and a beautiful hot sun to roam around in. Still haven’t made it down to the local tennis club here in Alajuela where Sampras was scheduled to play Agassi a couple of years ago, except it rained. But I will go tomorrow. Did play Kadima on the beach yesterday in Jaco.
