Tsitsipas Revives And Defends Monte Carlo

Stefanos Tsitsipas revived his stagnated career with a sensational triumph in Monte Carlo, overcoming Diego Schwartzman from love-4 down in the third set and then the red hot Alejandro Fokina Davidovich in the final.

It was the Greek’s first ATP singles title in a year and it came without trial basis coach Thomas Enqvist who was not present in Monte Carlo. Enqvist was last seen with Stefanos at the Miami Open crushing loss to Carlos Alcazar where despite trying to cheer and inspire and get the attention of Tsitsipas for the entire match, his communications were completely ignored.

So it looks like Tsitsipas has reunited with his dad and coach Apostoulos. And the winning formula chemistry after a short hiatus has produced another defining moment in the career of the 23 year old superstar. This second Monte Carlo title is the eighth of Stefanos career and asserts him as a favorite to win Roland Garros where he reached the final and lead eventual champion Novak Djokovic by two sets.
