Juan Carlos Ferrero has unfollowed Carlos Alcaraz on Instagram.
While playing against Adrian Mannarino in Montpelier, Ugo Humbert suddenly called for a pause in the tiebreak when it was 4-3 to look at something on his phone inside his backpack. After this bizarre delay Humbert did not win another point in the tiebreaker and lost the match.
John McEnroe had a brutal interaction with a fan in Australia at Melbourne Airport which has gone viral on social media. Fan: “Can I get an autograph? How about a photo?” McEnroe: “Stay away from me. Go fuck yourself!”
Bill Gates new favorite player is… Jannik Sinner.
Emma Navarro has switched from Fila attire to Free People’s Movement. She also signed a one year footwear deal with Asics. Navarro now joins Danielle Collins, Sloane Stephens and Sofia Kenin who also wear FP Movement.
Marinko Matosevic, former ATP top 40 player and current coach of Chris O’Connell and Jordan Thompson is under investigation about a blood transfusion eight years ago. But he’s not pulling any punches about the controversy as he mentioned a top player is using 5-7 therapeutic use exemption to use questionable performance enhancing drugs: “With the players and lawyers I’ve spoken to, [the ITIA] have a budget of around $20 million and they have used it. They have flown out to Oceania on two separate occasions in business class to interview a player about a bogus charge [regarding] a player asking for weed after they lost the match.” Much more on the case here link

ATP President Andrea Gaudenzi was re-elected until 2028.
Tomas Machac retired up 54 on Arthur Gea in Montpelier. For Machac it is his tenth retirement since Sept 2024.
Most tour level wins after turning age 40 since 1990: Karlovic, 9; Wawrinka, 8; Connors, 8.
I watched the 16 yr old wonderboy Moise Kouame vs Kovacevic in Montpelier and was very impressed. Usually at 16, players have that coltish aura but Kouame seems fully matured already physically, meaning his perfect hard hitting form on both wings is going to absolutely devastating in 2-3 years when he gets even more physically stronger and faster.

Interesting. Considering it’s been (I believe) a few months since their split, what do you make of this, Scoop? 🤔
John McEnroe had a brutal interaction with a fan in Australia at Melbourne Airport which has gone viral on social media. Fan: “Can I get an autograph? How about a photo?” McEnroe: “Stay away from me. Go f*** yourself!”
Why was McEnroe so hostile . . . or was the fan himself being hostile?? 😬

Wait . . . I thought all PEDs were questionable! 😆
Bill Gates new favorite player is… Jannik Sinner.
Just another great reason to find Sinner absolutely repellent. 😏

Sam, Ferrero is obviously no longer a fan or supporter of Carlos, it was all about money and business for him. Carlos was already a great player when he started coaching him at 14… McEnroe was annoyed because he has to wait another week to get his copy of Facing Andre Agassi book ) And the pestering super fan only further aggravated his frustration… Now we are at the point players are super charged by 5-7 illegal drugs. In a few years we will be watching ten hour matches maybe )

I saw the Humbert / Mannarino thing. The thing to remember is that if it were about gambling, why would he make it so obvious. Moreover, looking at the ensuing 4 points that he lost consecutively to lose the match – its JUST 4 points, and the errors were not that egregious. In fact at least 2 of the points had lengthy rallies. If he had short order to tank the match he would not be 10-15 balls deep into rallies with just 4+ points determining the fate. That said, strange.

Cory, there was enough there to launch an investigation by the proper anti match fixing authorities but I guess they stayed away from this one. Good to see an all Romanian final in Romania or a 75 % Romanian final. Good for business. Cirstea has been playing very high level all year so far, expect her to roll over Raducanu.

Scoop, that must be it! 😎
And the pestering super fan only further aggravated his frustration…
I can’t believe he would actually say that to a fan, though.

Sounds likely.

With a few intermissions, hopefully. 😏

That video may doom McEnroe, to treat a fan like that is awful and maybe unforgivable, one of the worst I ever saw. Hopefully he takes action to make it a happy ending. Still curious if Sinner has ever been tested since his 3 month ban.

Haven’t seen the video, and not sure I even want to. 😬
Of course Sinner has been tested since then—in fact, apparently he got his eyes checked last week. 😉
