Tennis Treasures At Florida Second Hand Stores

Racket. 1991.0178.01.

About five years ago I discovered the existence of second hand stores like Salvation Army and Goodwill and how sometimes you can find tennis treasures there, especially here in Bradenton/Sarasota Florida.

This week I found a near mint condition 2009 Nike Roger Federer blue polo, the same style he wore to win Roland Garros – for $8 in the Longboat Key second-hand shop by the church. The same shirt is selling for $150 on ebay.

Later that day at Goodwill I found a dozen Asics shirts – blue, yellow, orange, light blue, white shorts, gray shorts – and one of the shirts had an “Iris” logo on the left shoulder. Google research determined the shirts and shorts were donated by ATP pro Vasek Pospisil, who previously was sponsored by Asics and Iris eyewear (the Canadian is now sponsored by Penguin).

Over the years I have found – a Kei Nishikori Uniqlo polo with the Nissin and Lixil ads silk screened on the shoulders. Kei lives in Sarasota and trains at IMG so maybe his agent donated the shirt.

A Venezuela Davis Cup team jacket.

Two Colombian Babolat Davis Cup shirts, perhaps donated by a player who trained at IMG.

Vintage 80s Nike Agassi shorts and shirt but they were in just okay condition so I didn’t buy.

Many vintage racquets like the Wilson T2000, Head Competition Arthur Ashe 1975, Dunlop Maxply, Donnay Borg Pro, etc.

A LeRoy Neiman tennis art print.

A Keenan Mayo custom Head Tour racquet bag with name embroidered on bag.

A vintage 70s or 80s Donnay Borg Pro large racquet bag, I have never seen it since on google, still regret not buying it.

Not to mention, all the tennis books.

If you’re interested in tennis treasure hunting, time to explore your local second hand stores…
