Swiatek And Shelton Sign With ON

Major news was announced this week in the tennis attire and shoe industry – ON Running has signed two of the most dynamic young stars to wear ON shoes and attire. World No. 1 Iga Swiatek, age 21, will no longer wear Asics, and fast-rising top 20 year old American Ben Shelton, ranked 39 now, is finished with New Balance – both will now sport ON for their WTA and ATP matches. Roger Federer, an investor in the company, made the announcement on Instagram…

Iga Swiatek: “I am thrilled to announce I am the first female tennis athlete at ON Running. I’m happy the ON team believes in me as an athlete and a person. We plan to grow, develop and make an impact together. You’ll see me in totally new outfits during my next matches and I hope you like it as much as I do. We started work on my shoes which are crucial in my job and will compliment my style of play, giving me everything I need on the court. As the process of designing unique shoes takes time, you’ll see me in ON shoes later during the year. And when you do, it’s gonna be huge.”

Ben Shelton: “I couldn’t be more pumped to join the ON family. I’m really grateful to the whole team for working tirelessly to design the apparel and shoes that were built for me. Cool experience to be a part of the development process. Gonna drop some more dope stuff tomorrow.” – Ben Shelton

Before this week ON has been a minor figure in pro tennis – the now retired Federer wore ON shoes during Laver Cup 2022, and currently Leylah Fernandez and Jack Sock wear ON shoes. But that all changed today with the dynamic announcement that Swiatek and Shelton are now ON athletes. Contract terms and duration details were not disclosed.

In just one day ON has transformed into a major player in professional tennis.

The all black clothes are not the most imaginative look for a sponsorship announcement, looking forward to the following outfits. Asics was tragic

Alcatraz. the all black Darth Vader Federer look is mysterious and blank and it provokes curiosity. It will make a big splash. I could see On starting off both Iga ans Shelton making their On debuts in all black, which is a rare color combination in tennis. I think, to contrast Wimbledon, and I’ve said this before, there should be a tournament that demands all players to wear all black, maybe On has this similar vision. All black is a fashion statement and smart way to kick off the clothing line, then later introduce the various colorways and creativity. Disagree about Asics, I liked the simple Asics designs and the material and fit are excellent. I have a load of Asics shorts and shirts. But the latest Asics which de Minaur wore are just good not special. Tennis designers may be running out of ideas after a century.
