Sock Drops Monroe As Coach

Jack Sock worked extremely hard in the off-season for over two months with Nick Monroe but the elite results remain elusive for the former top 10 star.

Sock, now 30, started the year off by losing first round in Cleveland Challenger to teenager ranked 526 Alex Michelsen 76 64. Then he won a round in Dallas 250 to 74th ranked Ilya Ivashka 76 46 64 before losing to top seed Taylor Fritz 76 64.

After losing to Fritz, Sock flew to Arizona for the Super Bowl, and then he arrived late to Delray Beach where he would lose in the first round to alternate qualifier Matija Pecotic 64 26 26.

So with a 1-3 record so far in 2023, Sock decided to split with Nick Monroe, the former doubles specialist journeyman who played NCAA tennis for North Carolina, the state Sock now lives in.

Since falling out of the ATP rankings in 2018, Sock has worked with Alex Bogomolov, Robby Ginepri and Monroe and he has not been able to get back into the top 100 – he is currently ranked 154.

This year Sock also switched racquets, from Babolat to Yonex.
