Just One USTA Match Win In Five Years

images

I wrote about a tennis player named Brian Healy last year, when he won his first USTA Eastern tournament match after going four and a half years of trying.

Healy, from New Jersey, finally won in Alley Pond in Queens last July, 12-10 in the super breaker against a guy named Jaroslaw Jaracz. That was his only USTA match win of the year, 33 matches, just one match win.

He played seven more USTA Open tournaments after that match win but did not win another match or a set. He played one tournament this year but lost first round.

So the totals: 47 USTA tournaments over five years beginning in 2014 and just one single match win. If that isn’t the greatest display of tennis perseverance, please show me another example. Please.

To persevere through so many losses shows this player has a special love of tennis and a heart of a lion, and he’s an example for everyone to never ever give up.

I’m really not sure what is more impressive and courageous – winning twenty major titles or persevering forward with self belief and passion despite winning one match in five years. To be honest, I might lean to the latter.

Tell this guy to join a 4.0 League.

Playing “ up” in Tennis is a great thing if you don’t mind the losses, or the cost of registering in a tournament you have no shot of winning matches..

Fifty tournaments at about fifty a pop, that’s over a couple grand. His results scorelines don’t indicate much improvement. Some players do improve a lot, but a lot do not. The vast majority do not.

That settles it, Brian Healy is the GOAT. Sorry Fed, you won too many Slams.

Hope these tournaments have a “ losers draw” so he gets to play another match

I haven’t picked up a racket in 10 years. Surely a match against Healy would be a boost to my confidence!

Had Novak lost today, I was going to suggest to schedule Healy for some practice.

Duke, what kind of losing streak or misfortune provoked you to put your racquets in storage for ten yrs?!

    It’s called old age

Scoop! Trump just freed some hostages that Obummer couldn’t. His methods are shaking up the world and he is playing hardball with Iran. I love it, it’s a new world order and America is getting back on top!
