Djokovic Equals Federer’s 310 weeks as ATP World No. 1

No man has ever held the ATP world no. 1 ranking for 311 weeks but next week that monumental accomplishment will belong to Novak Djokovic.

This week Djokovic has tied Roger Federer’s 310 weeks as no. 1 despite being six years younger. Federer was born in August 1981, Djokovic was born in May 1987.

33 year old Djokovic is the 26th player to hold the no. 1 ranking, which he first achieved in July 2011.

The longest stretch that Djokovic has been the world’s highest ranked player is 122 weeks. Federer’s best reign lasted 237 weeks.

Djokovic has finished six years as world no. 1, a mark also owned by Pete Sampras (1993-1998). Djokovic finished as no. 1 in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2018, and 2020.

By winning the 2021 AO over a week ago, Djokovic assured himself of holding the no. 1 ranking to beyond March 8 next week.

While six years younger than Federer, Djokovic has won 18 career Grand Slams, compared to 20 by Federer.
