The Japanese men’s contingent has been eliminated from the 2026 Roland Garros main draw. No one making it to the main draw in the Grand Slam is the first time it happened in 16 years since the 2010 AO. No Nishioka, Nishikori… Sakamoto, Uchida, Noguchi all lost in qualies.
The controversial argument between Sakamoto and Pedro Martínez in the Roland Garros qualifying match resulted in the victorious Spaniard asking if the ten years younger Rei wanted to continue the discussion off the court.
Carlos Alcaraz will skip Roland Garros and Wimbledon with the alleged wrist injury. Why doesn’t he just numb it like Rafa did to his foot at AO?
Rafa Nadal has said he has spoken about Alcaraz’s injury and says they’ve both talked between themselves but he won’t say anything more about their conversation. “What we talked about will stay between us.” So what is the secret that must remain hidden?
Novak Djokovic’s former Davis Cup colleague and friend Victor Troicki has joined his coaching team at Roland Garros.
David Goffin, Bianca Andreescu, Karolina Pliskova, Grigor Dimitrov, are out at RG qualies.
Michael Zheng can make his second Grand Slam main draw in a row if he can beat Jesper De Jong tomorrow.

With Alcaraz having withdrawn from Wimbledon, do you think Djokovic’s chances go way up?

For sure, because Carlos was his main obstacle. Having to beat Sinner and Carlos was too much for him. The draw was always rigged for Novak to have to beat both of them which was too much for him at 37 38.

It was nice to see Troicki helping Djokovic in his first RG practice. I always liked Troicki’s simple backhand technique when he played.

Steve, Having Biofiled Troicki way back at the old Citi Open this is a positive addition to the team. I like Novak’s chances of winning this title. The robot is due for a mechanical or wiring malfunction.

On clay, not having to beat Sinner or Alcaraz is apparently still too much for Djokovic. 😏 I wonder if Sinner losing so early unconsciously had a negative effect on him?
On the other hand, not having to face both of them at Wimbledon should (hopefully) work out better for him.

No Sam we can be fairly sure Djokovic knew the Sinner collapse loss was a suspect one. I doubt Novak underestimates anyone, as we know everybody who plays him plays like it’s the match of their lives. How many times have seen so called ordinary players play the best of their career vs Novak?

Andreeva beats Kostyuk 61 63 to reach the final. After the match point, Andreeva looked over and was ready to shake hands with Kostyuk who obviously refused to change her poor sportsmanship crusade of nonsense. Nike’s Andreeva is in her first Grand Slam final.
