Reilly Opelka Is Now The Top Ranked American

Reilly Opelka has passed by Taylor Fritz in the latest ATP rankings this week and is now the highest ranked American tennis player.
Opelka is now ranked a career high no. 17. The 24-year-old’s most recent tournament was reaching the final of Delray Beach where he was defeated in the final by Cameron Norrie 76 76,
The second ranked American is now Fritz at no. 20.
Opelka has registered an 11-4 match record so far in 2022 which includes the Dallas Open title earlier this month, a 76 76 final victory vs Jenson Brooksby.
Opelka’s only losses this year have been to Norrie in Delray, Andy Murray in Sydney 76 46 46, Denis Shapovalov 67 46 63 46 at AO, and Maxine Cressy in the first round of the first tournament of the year in Melbourne 64 67 (5) 67 (9).
All four of Opelka’s losses were all very close duels.
Above Opelka in the rankings are Pablo Carreno Busta at 16 and Roberto Batista Agut at 15. Lorenzo Sonego is immediately behind Opelka at no. 18 and at no. 19 is Carlos Alcaraz
