Is Anybody Not A Huge Fan Of Tsitsipas Now?

This may come as a shock and surprise to you but I think it’s possible Stefanos Tsitsipas can become as popular as Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. And he may even exceed them someday.

The 22 year old is a unique combination of superstar and world champion qualities. Tsitsipas surely gained a massive increase to his fanbase this past fortnight, for his astounding play but also his likable character and how he handled playing the French Open final vs Novak Djokovic shortly after learning the death of his grandmother.

Tsitsipas has a flair like Federer, a Bambi like quality similar to Rafa, and a burning ambition to be the best like Djokovic that is awesome and inspiring but not offensive.

I personally met Tsitsipas at US Open juniors in 2016 when he was by himself on the bleachers of court 14 or 15 watching another junior from Estonia Kenneth Raisma play. He would beat Raisma in the quarterfinals 61 76, before falling in the semi to Felix Auger-Aliassime 64 75. Tsitsipas was the no. 1 seed that year (Felix beat Kecmanovic in the final 63 60).

Tsitsipas was surprised I could correctly pronounce his name. We ended up chatting for about 20 minutes. Though I had my recorder I did not ask to do a Biofile with him, because I figured we could do it later on when he became an established ATP pro (we still haven’t done it).

I remember the conversation and how nice and friendly of a person he is, similar to Djokovic, Federer, Nadal and Murray, who I was fortunate to Biofile each as teenagers. I remember Tsitsipas revealed to me that US Open afternoon in 2106 that he had recently hit with Djokovic and how he was awed by how he never missed and how he could cover the court so extremely well. It was a priceless experience for him and it surely helped him to be able to beat Djokovic twice so far in the ATP.

So now Tsitsipas has progressed to no. 4 in the world, not far behind Rafael Nadal in points total. You know it’s just a matter of time before Tsitsipas will arrive at world no. 1. “He has a need to win tennis matches that I don’t see in the other players,” said Mats Wilander.

But he does it in the right way, he has the skill set, the ambition and the motivation to be the best. He has the Bjorn Borg like look with the long hair and headband and also the Roger Federer elegance, style and violence of shot power.

And now he will surely gain the massive support of adoring crowds all over the world, who will make sure the destiny of the tennis gods comes to fruition.

See Korda in a Bradenton boys clinic in Halle with Kei. So far the vet is pushing him to maximum mental and physical limits for a 3 setter.

Seb walks through the fire. The most character building 3 setter ever. Half the games were 6 min. I bet7 were 10! Seb if he can stay healthy will build back bullet proof from Nishi’s samurai hardening today.

Hugo tasting blood early. He has earned respect and only needs to execute his game plan. Rublev is that test most tempestuous today.
