Ahead of the US Open getting underway at Flushing Meadows this weekend, Betway’s betting data suggests punters are looking beyond the favorites in the women’s singles draw.
Alexandra Eala has attracted 30% of all outright bets, making the 21-year-old Filipina the best-backed player with bettors. Coco Gauff is next on 17%, while Iga Swiatek has attracted 11% of bets. Aryna Sabalenka and Elena Rybakina have each drawn 6%.
Lewis Knowles, Betway’s spokesperson, said: “Although the big names of Sabalenka, Swiatek and Rybakina remain at the head of the market, Alexandra Eala is by far the best-backed player going into the women’s singles at Flushing Meadows. Eala is clearly seen as a dark horse in the women’s draw, and with Coco Gauff the next best-backed player, punters are clearly looking for value away from the big names at the head of the betting.”
In the men’s draw, Alexander Zverev has attracted 16% of all outright bets, ahead of Carlos Alcaraz (13%), Novak Djokovic (11%) and Arthur Fils (9%).
