Tennis Inspirations: “I started when I was four and a half, my mom was playing in the club. I always went with her to watch her play and one day I decided, Well, it looks like fun, let’s try it out [smiles]. Guga Kuerten is one of my biggest idols. Now I know him really well, we are good friends.”

Early Tennis Memory: “First time when I was 13 years old, playing my first grand slam at U.S. Open, playing my first match on the grandstand. I lost that match against Shahar Peer.”

Favorite Movies: “I love comedies and love stories, also thrillers.”

Favorite Meal: “Well, tennis players always say pastas. I don’t say that. I love pasta but I love Mexican food, Italian food in general but also Indian food. And I love Brazilian steak.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Probably hazelnut.”

Pre-Match Feeling: “I’m very calm actually. A little nervous before every match. You need to be that I think. But, otherwise, just go out there, perform my best and try everything.”

Greatest Sports Moment: “Tough to say. I think every tournament and every moment on the court is something special to me.”

Most Painful Moment: “I think when you get injured and you know how fast it can be over. Luckily it’s never happened to me but that’s one of the moments I have a lot of fear from.”

Favorite Tournaments: “All tournaments are something special. Especially the grand slams. And I just love every match when I can go out there and perform.”

Closest Tennis Friends: “I have a lot of friends on the Tour.”

Funniest Players Encountered: “I think you can have a lot of fun with everybody, different characters, different personalities, so it’s all different.”

Toughest Competitors: “At this level everyone’s a great competitor, you need to get used to everyone.”

Favorite Players To Watch: “When I was younger my idol was Maria Sharapova, just the way her fighting on the court. And her power. Also Serena. And on the guy’s side, Roger Federer.”

Last Book Read: “It’s a German book, it’s a murder solver. It’s like a thrill book. It’s really interesting.”

Funny Tennis Memory: “Not really, I’m just enjoying every moment I’m here.”

Embarrassing Tennis Memory: “No. Not yet. I hope it will never come [smiles].”

People Qualities Most Admired: “Well, I think from the players, I love the focus, the way they fight on the court, they push themselves, and just focus on every point.”
