AO Day 3

Naomi Osaka won her match with another outrageous Nike costume she said “was inspired by a jellyfish.” But the most interesting part of the post-match interview was Jelena Dokic having the courage to suddenly pivot and ask Osaka what about your daughter, Shai, she’s not traveling with you? Osaka shot back she’s back home and actually sick. Osaka shut it down with the Baby Shai is sick card play. Phantom baby? Nobody has yet to see this mystery baby.

Eliot Spizzirri knocked off Joao Fonseca again in four sets, he also beat him a couple of years ago in the 3R of US Open qualies in three thrilling sets. Last week Roger Federer stated that Fonseca is about ready to threaten the Carlos/Sinner duopoly. Did Federer unknowingly put a hex on Fonseca

Gael Monfils lost his last match in Australia to Dane Sweeney.

Cruz Hewitt was watching the Sinner match with the Federer twin daughters.

Novak Djokovic is the only player in history with 100-plus Grand Slam wins on all three surfaces.

Sloane Stephens is back with coach Kamau Murray but she has switched from Head to Technifibre.

5-7 Sebastian Baez is the new dragon slayer of tennis, he’s beaten Taylor Fritz in United Cup and yesterday Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.

Rafael Jódar after beating Rei Sakamoto in five sets: “This victory isn’t going to change anything for me or change my season. My goal is to improve on a tennis court. I’ve enjoyed it immensely. I’ve had a great time. Whether I had won or lost, it doesn’t matter. I’ve had an awesome time.”

(19 year old Jodar of Spain.)

For her to have never even shown a pic of her “baby” on social media—yeah, this is just a big hoax. 🪄

No updates on fake baby Shai’s doctor visit ) Greatest hoax in tennis history, beyond Rafa’s bad knee and … well, let’s stay on track )

The main point of social media is merely to show off. And if Osaka hasn’t done that yet with her baby, then it’s because there is nothing to show off. 🤥

Yeah, no need to travel down Williams Lane while a big tournament is currently going on. 😏

And speaking of Djokovic, turns out he nearly got defaulted again from a Grand Slam. 😮

Thankfully, it didn’t happen. But after that crazy U.S. Open incident, I can’t believe he’s still playing fast and loose with venting his frustration on the court! 🤪

Sam there is no baby until we see it live and not a hologram ) And there was no apparent injury in the Cirstea match, looks like she pulled out due to all the blowback from the between serves Cmons. She is extremely sensitive.

I think he’s feeling the pressure to win this title, he does not want another SF and go home. He’s summoning that inner beast mode that hasn’t been seen in a long while. You know, those screaming roars. That summoning the inner “vicious competitor.” Pancho Gonzales once said, “All the great champions are vicious competitors.” Lately Djokovic has been too diplomatic.

Sam Malinowski— well on N Osaka I’d just go hmm and hmm and that was an outrageous outfit to be worn on a tennis court. I mean if she wanted to showcase fashion then it should be elsewhere not at a Grand Slam. I like what your thoughts were on Djokovic state of mind and yes it does look like he is looking to get a 11th AO title. ‘All the great champions are vicious competitors’ as you rightly put it. Was shocking to see Sinner playing through cramps and of course then the roof was closed. His opponent Eliot Spizzerri played well too. I am looking forward to seeing Jodar playing. Hadn’t heard of him until you mentioned it in your article. Thank you!

Cyndy, Osaka is a broken player, she has never recovered from the fan rejection of her BLM politics. She went from loved and adored by the planet to her fans saying, “I used to love her, now I can’t stand her.” I talk with fans at tournaments and this was the message I heard. She is broken. Any criticism or fan heckling and she falls apart mentally and just surrenders every time. Tragic story how she blew it, she had the world in the palm of her hand. Now she’s a total outcast. The great Pancho Gonzales said that quote about vicious competitors, I just shared it. ) It is not flagrantly obvious that Sinner is aided and protected by establishment corruption. The match was stolen from Eliot Spizzirri. Tennis needs to clean house and eliminate the corruption before it’s too late. Fans hate rigged phony champions, Sinner does not sell, he can’t even sell any exhibitions anywhere unless he piggybacks off Carlos. Jodar is very impressive in many ways, I see big things ahead for Rafa Jodar. And Learner Tien just keeps getting better and better, he made Medvedev look like a qualifier. Jovic could win the tournament if she’s not intimidated by Sabalenka.

Scoop Malinowski— had watched the Tien/Medvedev match and what a great win for Learner Tien to move into the Round of 16 at the Australian Open for the second year in a row.!
You’re right – he made Medvedev look like a qualifier who had absolutely no answers.
This 20-year-old American is a great prospect in tennis and can go deep into the first Slam of this year and even win the title.!!! Who’s to say. Although I do hope that it will be a 25th slam loading for Djokovic who is also proving that age is just a number.
And Sinner is still there and how he recovers from his cramps etc.. although I do think he will be up and running!

Cyndy, Tien may be capable of beating anyone right now, fully agree. Even if he is, he may not realize it yet and run out of mental steam by the SF or F. To thrash Medvedev and his coach Thomas Johansson as he did was astounding.
