Sarasota Open!

I cycle down Longboat Key the ten miles to the Longboat Key Club to the Sarasota Open. It's a $100,000 ATP Challenger. I want to see the qualifying match, second match on court 8 - Brian Baker vs. Sekou Bangoura. Brian Baker was once a U.S. prospect, who I saw take a set off Carlos Moya at the U.S. Open on grandstand about seven or eight years ago. Continue to read full article...

Robbie Koenig Biofile

Status: ATP World Tour TV sports commentator. Former ATP player who won five doubles titles, achieving a career high rank of #28. Reached semifinals of 1998 U.S. Open mens doubles. Also semifinalist in mixed doubles at Wimbledon and Australian Open. Greatest Sports Moment: "Probably winning my first doubles title (with Thomas Shimada) in Kitzbuhel, Austria (2002). The first one is the one that sticks in your memory. (Who did you beat?) We beat Alex Corretja and Lucas Arnold (76 64). We hooked together for pretty much the first time in our career and it was an instant gel. I remember the best thing about it was the ride from the airport back to Munich was about an hour and a half, it was a long way. And I knew I was going to miss the flight but the check that we won was big enough that I had credit for business class. And I paid like a $1,500 bucks for the upgrade, but it didn't matter. I was getting to go home. I was flying first class and I just won my first tournament. The best feeling ever. Continue to read full article...

A good effort by the Davis Cup rookie Ryan Harrison, taking on the ATP world #6 Tsonga, lost a close first set 57, dropped the second, fights to win the third but Tsonga takes charge to close it out in the fourth. Not a bad loss, despite 10 double faults by the American teen in his first live Davis Cup singles match, Tsonga is a lethal player, especially on clay and in France. Now it's up to Isner to level this tie, he will have to subdue Gilles Simon. Continue to read full article...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dE9DhpBRDUo&feature=share I really love these super slow motion films by my buddy Karl Rosenstock. You can really study the techniques of the best tennis players in the world. I've watched dozens of ATP and NCAA players and can't get enough of them. Here's Karl's most recent - of ATP #1 Novak Djokovic. Enjoy and I hope it helps your game, like I believe it does mine... Continue to read full article...

Corrado Barazzutti Biofile

By Scoop Malinowski At the 2012 Sony Ericsson I went to watch the Bryans play Daniele Braciali and Juan Sebastien Cabal in a doubles match on a sunny afternoon on Court one. A couple of seats over to my left was seated a distinguished and accomplished tennis figure - Corrado Barrazzuti. After the match concluded, the great Italian clay court player from the 1970-1980's agreed to volley my Biofile questions and gave a classic, most memorable interview in the process... Why Do You Love Playing Tennis: "The passion I think. There is not reason. Tennis is a passion that you feel inside, something that you like very, very much. The most important thing for you. And you like very much profession. I start to play in the small yard in my house. We start to play, when it's possible, every day. And it became my profession." Continue to read full article...
