Biofile with Manuel Santana

Status: International Tennis Hall of Famer. First Tennis Memory: "Well, I was ten years old and I came to tennis club in Madrid. This time I saw a tennis racquet and a tennis court. So this was always in my mind." Tennis Inspirations: "I think the tennis is the greatest sport to play. The guys that play it, it makes them better persons. (Why?) Because you are alone on the court. If you don't behave well yourself, you lose the match. Like last night with Roddick (vs. Tipsarevic at 2010 U.S. Open 2R), he complained so much. And instead of playing. So I think tennis, it gives the tennis player no excuses. If you win, you win. If you lose, you lose. And then when you lose, you have to analyze why you have done bad result and then fix it. That's why I like tennis very much as a sport." Continue to read full article...

The new king of tennis is Novak Djokovic

Down in Miami, during the first few days of the event, a somewhat doubtful Roger Federer wondered if not questioned how much longer Novak Djokovic would be able to maintain his level of excellent tennis. "If you're hot, like Novak at the moment, or me back a few years ago when I won back to back Indian Wells and Miami, you could do it, you know, just because the draw falls into place, you are playing well, you are not thinking too much and you are just better than the rest - at the moment," said Federer. Match Study: Djokovic vs. Nadal in Madrid

Novak Djokovic opts to be the man in black today, after sporting his all white Sergio Tacchini outfit earlier in the week. This is a bold statement, Djokovic comfortable in the role as Darth Vader to Rafa's Luke Skywalker. Djokovic serves first and is composed like a machine however he falls into a 15-40 hole but digs his way out. His confidence is sky high, nothing seems to be able to rattle him. 1-love, Djokovic. Federer’s Great Escape In Madrid

Did you see Roger Federer narrowly escape from a shocking upset to Feliciano Lopez yesterday in Madrid? I missed the first two sets but the scores indicate it was a classic. Fed edged out a marathon first set tiebreak (15-13) but then Lopez dominated the second set tiebreak. One set apiece. Then they battled all the way to another 6-6 deadlock with some wonderfully aesthetic tennis. A highly motivated Lopez was playing superbly, almost perfectly, as was Federer. Biofile with Yen-Hsun Lu

Pre-Match Feeling: "For me, for sure, I'm nervous. I feel nervous when you are going on the court, there are many things you are not sure about. So I have to start hitting the ball to feel the ball from the first point or from the five-minute warm-up. I will be starting with confidence to play the match. But of course I prepare my mental before the match, to fight for every ball. But for my personality, for my body, I have to hit the first ball from the warm-up, to feel the court. Then I feel comfortable. Then I join the match." Continue to read full article...

Sampras-Agassi Rivarly Hotter Than Ever

It all started when Andre Agassi portrayed his arch rival Pete Sampras as being cheap in his infamous book "Open" a couple of years ago. Or was it many years earlier when Agassi said Sampras looked like he just swung out of a tree, like a monkey. In any case, these two rivals have a history. Continue to read full article...
