Brown grew up in Germany and moved to Jamaica as a young teen. I used to go to Jamaica, a club called Swept Away, and be the visiting tennis pro for a week. It was fun, you had to teach your lessons early in the morning or later in the afternoon because it got so hot. The Jamaican players were talented, but known for their machismo and how hard they hit the ball. They basically had to get jobs teaching at the resorts to practice on any decent courts.
