Loving these Yonex Power Cushions

yonexThey feel extremely snug and comfortable – even cushiony – the power cushion concept seems to be an underrated innovation in the tennis shoe industry – for the player who relies on heavy movement and lots of running and retrieving I think the Yonex Power Cushion 308 is the ultimate choice – the model is from a couple of years ago and I haven’t tried the new Yonex offerings (they could be better) but I highly recommend trying these 308s if you have foot problems caused by physical tennis – remember Lleyton Hewitt was plagued by foot troubles likely caused before his Yonex endorsement – and since he’s been wearing the 308 (for over three years now) he has remained foot injury free – though Hewitt has played the limited schedule he has still endured several marathon matches and you have to think the comfort and durability of the 308 has played a part in prolonging Hewitt’s career to now (Hewitt will retire in January at the Australian Open) – The Power Cushion concept by Yonex says it “transfers shock into energy – the power of rebound – Power Cushion generates more kick – the power of compression and repulsion – the result – reduced muscle fatigue and more aggressive play” – count me in as a believer in the Yonex philosophy – I love the feeling and comfort of these shoes – and if they are good enough for 2015 Roland Garros champion Stan Wawrinka and all time tennis legend Lleyton Hewitt they are good enough for me currently ranked #5 in the Eastern USTA Open division 🙂 As the Yonex label on the 308 says: “Even a raw egg rebounds without cracking” – I would even offer to eat a raw egg Rocky Balboa style if you don’t like these shoes – This is not a paid endorsement or freebie trade-off for a positive plug – these shoes are fantastic –

this could be my favorite all time most comfortable shoe – what’s your’s?

They don’t make these anymore, where did you get them? I love those shoes, the new ones are not as comfortable. I think Hewitt bought 500 pairs when they discontinued them. Another example of fixing something that is not broken …

JP – quite a lot of pairs available at ebay – thanks for the update on the new ones – so strange how a company can regress a high quality shoe – but it happens with many of the companies –

ASICS is the best tennis shoe in the business !

What is so good about Asics? I tried a pair and while they were comfy they were slippery on hard courts – maybe i was running too fast and sliding too much against a heavy hitter but I felt the shoes were too slippery and took them off and put on nikes – and proceeded to feel better about my movement and came back and won the set 86 in the breaker – this wasn’t the highest priced model of Asics but still it left me disappointed in the brand –

it is a slightly softer rubber so can wear quickly but other than that the shoe is comfy, grippy, sturdy, etc.

tried all nikes, adidas, babolats but i’ll take the top of the line GEL Resolution model over any of them..

Nike Air Oscillates were best shoe ever!!!

Now I play in Feds shoes. Nadals Nikes and Adidas Barricades seem a bit heavier to me.

I have worn ASICS for a few years now, but had toe surgery similar to Hewitt and wore them after when I started playing again (Scoop and I played while i was wearing them after), my toes hurt in them and I switched to Diadora as someone said ASICS has a narrow toe box, and the Diadora’s have a larger one–they are ok, but I think based on the above I am going to try the Yonex.

mm and Harold – have either of you ever worn a Yonex shoe? I have worn every company’s shoes – they all have produced classics and duds – loved the Oscillates back in the day but now they are stiff – or at least my very old leftovers are – even Sampras has moved on to the new nike Vapors- he used those Oscillates for about half his career –

jg – I think you will be happy with Yonex – Diadora feels a bit heavy and clunky for me though it is a very nice looking shoe –

I’ll give the Yonex a try but not crazy about the styling…I also use vapors but nadal’s shoes look more like wrestling shoes IMO..

Yeah Yonex is a bit flashy and colorful but the substance exceeds the style –
