First Tennis Memory: “Hitting against the garage door at my house (age 8).”

Nicknames: “Sweet Sugar, J-Sizzle – from my brother (Eric), J-Boogie.”

Hobbies/Interests: “Playing golf, hanging out with friends.”

Last Book Read: “Breaking Back by James Blake. I thought it was great.”

Favorite Movies: “Anchorman, Wedding Crashers and The Transformers.”

Favorite TV Show: “Entourage.”

Musical Tastes: “Alternative, Fray, Incubus, Framing Hanley.”

Current Car: “Toyota Four-Runner 2005, white.”

Favorite Meal: “Pasta.”

Favorite Ice Cream Flavor: “Cake batter.”

Pre-Match Feeling: “Just settle down, calm down. Prepared and ready to go.”

Greatest Sports Moment (so far): “Winning U.S. Open juniors and playing main draw match here (lost to Chiudinelli in four sets).”

Most Painful Moment: “Being out when I was 13 with an injury, not being able to play. (What was the injury?) Two stress fractures in my left foot, back to back.”

Funny Tennis Memory: “What made me laugh in tennis…when my brother, actually when we both first started playing tennis, running around and trying to hit balls. It was kind of ugly. But I think we got the hang of it.”

Strangest Match: “I was down 6-0 5-0, 40-love one time in a Sectional tournament in Omaha and I won 7-5 6-0 the next two sets. (How did you do it?) He started missing a lot, it was a really windy day. It was a long time ago.”

Embarrassing Tennis Memory: “I don’t really have one.”

Favorite Players To Watch: “The top guys again, Federer, Nadal, Roddick, Djokovic, Murray – they’re all fun to watch.”

Which Matches Were You At Your Very Best: “Probably in the 12s and I made that run the whole year, when I won singles and doubles in all four Super Nationals. I felt good out there, all the time. That was a good year.”

Favorite Sport Outside Tennis: “Golf. Or ping pong.”

People Qualities Most Admired: “Respectful. Funny. Disciplined. Kind of organized. All around good person.”

    Jack enjoys watching the top guys to this day. However, it is most important he sees himself as one of the top guys if he is to ascend to the top 5. His forehand is as good as Nadal’s forehand. He is probably best hope of another American male slam champion.

    Bobby; Jack is very confident and he has said quotes this year that he does see himself among the ATP elites and he feels he is going to be a deep draw contender at majors – I’ve seen and heard Sock say this and seeing how he’s playing I believe that big breakout in singles is coming this year and sooner than later –
