Is Gasquet Choking or Is Kyrgios Strangling him?

Richard Gasquet is in the tennis torture chamber and Nick Kyrgios is showing no mercy.
Last year Kyrgios saved nine match points in defeating Gasquet in five sets.
This year the cocky Aussie doing it again to poor Richard, who was up two sets to love and had double match point at 6-4 in the tiebreaker.
Kyrgios managed to steal the third set 8-6 with some winners and errant Gasquet forehands. Gasquet erupted in rage after losing the last point of the third set by angrily smashing his Head racquet.
You have to think Kyrgios will roll now as Gasquet will need a Herculean mental and physical effort to avoid another crumble after botching two more match points.
Greg Sharko the ATP stat king probably won’t be able to confirm this, but Gasquet blowing eleven match points to the same player has absolutely got to be an ATP record.

A coming of age victory for Richard in some ways, albeit rather late in his career. And a handsome victory for the single hander as well.

Gasquet is one of those guys like Cilic and Stan, he has the goods to suddenly mature and galvanize his great talents to suddenly maybe shocking or Wawrinkarizing the world. I think he needs that fire and passion and to show his intensity, to pump up more and find a way to pump up the fans for his side and feed off that energy.

Gasquet has no chance of winning a slam at this juncture in his career. He just doesn’t have the firepower although I am psyched to see how he does against Stan in the Quarters.
