I Like New Balance

In September I went to the Paramus Sports Authority on route 17 to get some balls and overgrips not to get sneakers. At the clearance section there were a ton of shoes including the New Balance 1187s.

Several players over the years have said New Balance is their favorite shoes and they wore them year in and year out. I never tried them for tennis for a few reasons – preference of other brands and styles.

But the white and blue design and style of the 1187s caught my eye. There was a pair in my size – 10.5. So out of curiosity I tried them on. And they felt really good. What the heck, I bought them for $60 – a good deal as they sell for over $100 online.

I have my Wilsons for clay but it was just about time to get new hard court shoes as my supply of Nike Ballistec 2.3s don’t feel as comfortable as my three pairs of Wilsons which are all about ready for the second hand store donation box.

These New Balance 1187s are excellent. And they come with a ONE YEAR warranty. Though they are comfortable, they do wear out rather quickly. I wore holes through the sole and midsole in less than two months. Someone told me you can call New Balance and tell them and they will give you a complimentary pair.

I called New Balance customer service in Brighton Mass and their rep Hector asked me several questions about how much I play and why I bought New Balance, etc. and then instructed me to send the worn pair back (original receipt is not necessary) and a free pair will be sent in 2-3 weeks.

That’s good business. I really like New Balance and the quality of their product. And I like the way they operate a business. Hector also told me that New Balance has an outlet on route 17 in Hasbrouck Heights which I never knew about. I will definitely be visiting that store.

Have you tried New Balance shoes for tennis? You won’t be making a mistake.

I just went out and bought another pair of the 1187s at Sports Authority. I like New Balance.
