Flyers Jacub Voracek Can’t Get Enough Of Federer

jacubvor

For a Biofile interview, I asked the Philadelphia Flyers right wing who his favorite athlete to watch is and he replied instantly, “Federer. I know just about everything about him.” He added that he travels to watch him play, attending the US Open semifinals and finals for the last five years. He enjoys the action so much at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center that he plans to continue to visit Flushing Meadows more times in the future. The six-foot-two, two hundred fourteen pounder also said he was at Roland Garros in 2009 and witnessed Federer win his first and only French Open title vs. Robin Soderling.

Voracek, who scored 23 goals last year for the Flyers and helped Czech Republic win the World Championship four years ago against Russia, feels Federer’s style of play changed the sport with the way he moves and the ease in how he performs his tennis magic. Though impressed by Federer’s recent 64 64 Shanghai Masters semifinal win over Djokovic, Voracek concedes that beating the ATP elites over best three out of five sets is a more complicated and physically demanding challenge and he’s still not sure that Federer can overcome Djokovic or Nadal in Grand Slam events.

So there you have it. Count Philadelphia Flyer star Jacub Voracek as a proud member of Federer Nation.

Mike Richards of the LA Kings also told me when I did a Biofile with him four years ago he is a huge Fed fan also. He travels around to watch Fed. Also FFs are Rangers goalies Henrik Lundqvist and Cam Talbot. Several other NHL players told me Federer is their favorite athlete to watch but I can’t remember them all off the top of my head. Lots of NHLers love Fed. Fed is a fan of hockey too and his two favorites are Crosby and Ovechkin. Jesse Levine told me this.
