Analyzing Kyrgios

Nicholas KyrgiosNick Kyrgios just does not want it bad enough. It’s like he wants to be seen as cool and not over exert and lay it all on the line. Rios had that quality of wanting to play casual instead of getting down and dirty and brawling it out. Continue to read full article...

Zverev uses emotional adrenaline to overcome Haase

AOAlexander Zverev showed he is a very special tennis player overcoming a desperate two sets to one deficit and a break point to go down two breaks in the fourth set at 1-3 vs Robin Haase at the Australian Open last night. Suddenly the 19-year-old Zverev tapped into his emotional adrenaline energy source and began shouting Come on and throwing flying fists after every critical point he won or saved or stole against Haase. Zverev made the shots and fought his way out of the deep hole by winning seven straight games and taking total control of the match to which he cruised to a safe victory 6-2 in the fifth set. My View: Powershares Tennis at Orlando

Image may contain: 1 person, playing a sport
Finally I attended my first PowerShares Series tennis event at the Amway Center in Orlando, FL last Thursday. Featured on this evening would be the ageless John McEnroe, Andy Roddick, Jim Courier and James Blake.
When I arrive at just before 4:30, Courier and McEnroe are on the court hitting with local players.  The Amway Center is the home of the Orlando Magic, and located just off of Interstate 4. It's interesting how the arena is crammed into a tight location entwined by overpasses and city features.
McEnroe finishes first and then does a couple of softball media interviews with two TV guys and then me. It's a pretty cool feeling to be recognized by a legend when he says, Hi Scoop. I give John a copy of Facing McEnroe and ask a couple of questions about Facing Andy Murray.

Andy Murray vs. Novak Djokovic today in the Qatar Open final was one of the best matches I have ever seen. Wow. I will say it again. Wow. Both players fought like everything was at stake today - no 1 / the Australian Open / and who was actually the better (the best) player. It was nothing short of epic in how incredibly hard both players fought and played to win this little ATP 250 event. Continue to read full article...
