Lleyton Hewitt Fitter Than Ever For Last Hurrah

hewwwLleyton Hewitt's career will end in a few weeks but he's training for the grand finale as if he's a spirited and hungry teenager entering his debut tournament - not his unprecedented 20th straight Australian Open. The more-intense-than-ever Hewitt has a new summer fitness program which has involved high-intensity hitting, running, swimming, boxing and strength training. Hewitt's farewell to pro tennis at age 34 is the most intriguing retirement from the sport I've ever witnessed. For his final battle(s) on the tennis court, Hewitt has worked perhaps harder than any tennis player ever in history - dedicated on perfecting his game and fitness for almost six hours a day, six days a week - virtually non-stop - since early November in preparation for the final professional matches of his career and life. 2016: A Tennis Odyssey

rafan7I will share my thoughts and ideas on what will happen in the ATP in 2016, or order, just random predictions and thoughts: Comeback Kid: Alexander Dolgopolov is training very seriously this off-season after a sub-par two years plagued by injury. The Dog did all kinds of resistance and speed drills which he showed on Twitter. He also showed a point in a practice vs Federer in Dubai where he just blasted Fed off the court with a big serve and two forehands. I sense a big year for 27-year-old "The Dog" who means business now. The ultra-talented Ukrainian (#36 ATP) has the skills to threaten and pester even Djokovic as we saw in their classic US Open tiebreaker on Louis Armstrong a few years ago. “Tennis Academies are Not the Answer”

12345681_845466628903236_552454037979291551_n Angelica Gavaldon - former WTA top 40 player supports this opinion of the famed coach Robert Landsdorp: "Robert Landsdorp!! Love him and I agree 100 %. Unfortunately a lot of parents think Academies are THE ANSWER but I do not know any player that was produced in an academy. When I played pro I trained at Harry Hopman but NOT with the academy players." Continue to read full article...

Super Sunday at Eddie Herr

11140030_10206545332325303_751802000027814953_nFelix Auger Aliassime dazzled Bradenton with a sensational 76 in the third set win over Aussie Alex De minaur before a packed court on two sides. Felix double faulted at 7-8 in the second set tiebreaker - to send the battle into a third set - just like the girls 18s final which was contested on the same court earlier. But the fifteen year old Canadian has a maturity beyond his years - and he was able to regroup and fend off the ultra talented Aussie who enjoyed a friendly fun warmup two courts down with his buddy miomir Kecmanovic - I watched some of this warmup which included the Aussie asking Kecmanovic for deeper drive crosscourt backhands to his own two-hander.
