The New York City Marathon is one of the most grueling, physically demanding sporting events in the world. On Sunday over 50,000 runners will take on the formidable challenge of 26.2 miles of running the streets of New York City against so many other competitors and of course the unpredictable weather, which can be brutally cold and windy. Diary of USTA Tourney Adventures Part One

It's the end of the season, we're chasing USTA points for our ranking. I need to win one tournament and gain the hundred-twenty five points to maintain my top five spot from a year ago. So I enter Spring Valley, which is the last local tournament without having to travel to Brooklyn or the Bronx.
There's only one other player signed up, my old nemesis, a tall lefty pusher who crowds the net. I've beaten him three straight times, straight sets but each match has been a battle where he had his chances and I came up with the passing shots and saved break points. My Biofile Interview with Nikolay Davydenko

We did this Biofile in 2005 at US Open when Davydenko had just entered the ATP top five. What a great player Daveydenko was, so machine like, technically perfect and smooth too. He just always seemed to run into Federer deep in the majors. Four times Davydenko reached a Grand Slam semifinal (2 US, 2 FO). Davydenko's pinnacle came in 2009 when he won the World Tour Finals in London (def. Del Potro) but he also had some spectacularly impressive wins over Nadal, he even leads the head to head with Rafa 6-5. Overall, the Ukrainian born Russian won twenty one ATP singles titles...
Childhood Heroes: "Maybe movie heroes. Batman, Superman I guess [smiles]. (Tennis?) I don't know. Who was good before? Ivan Lendl. Yannick Noah."

For a Biofile interview, I asked the Philadelphia Flyers right wing who his favorite athlete to watch is and he replied instantly, "Federer. I know just about everything about him." He added that he travels to watch him play, attending the US Open semifinals and finals for the last five years. He enjoys the action so much at the Billie Jean King National Tennis Center that he plans to continue to visit Flushing Meadows more times in the future. Continue to read full article...

Biofile: Olivier Rochus Interview
