djoksony On the second point of the match, Rafa Nadal already began his trademark grunting. Novak Djokovic's first grunt came on the second point of the fourth game. Clearly, both players felt an extreme urgency to establish early control of the court and match. Continue to read full article...

Super Serena Is Sensational Again At Sony Open

serena Serena Williams has captured her seventh Sony Open title with a straight set 75 6l win vs. the overmatched Li Na. Serena has won on Key Biscayne so many times that when asked at the post match press conference if she remembers her first title here, she became confused and asked, "was it Venus?" Actually it was Capriati. The little anecdote showed how "in the moment" Serena is now about her career, it's all about the present, not the past. Continue to read full article...

Sony Open Stars of the day… Farah and Cabal

rfarah Serena once again dominated Maria, after a slow start, for the fifteenth win in a row against her arch rival. Bill Tilden once said, "I never lose to someone I hate." It seems Serena has a bit of that mentality when she plays Maria. There is the sense while watching her focus and quiet intensity that Serena will just never allow herself to lose to Maria. She even scales back her grunting and roaring, as if to tell Maria and the audience that Maria is not even worthy of evoking her A level, even her B game is enough to get the job done. Hingis Electrifies At The Sony

sonyeric I see Cliff Drysdale arrives to the Crandon Park complex at l0:40 am. First match on is doubles and Martina Hingis showed today there's plenty of magic left in her Yonex. Her and Sabine Lisicki started off wobbly and were down a set and a break but Medina Garrigues and Shvedova could not finish the job. They had a match point and Medina missed by just centimeters an open court forehand at 53 deuce. Continue to read full article...

Super Sony Sunday

meson Whoa, Ivan Lendl walked into the transportation area this morning. Strange to see him here at the Sony. Word from a reliable source is that Murray "desperately wanted to keep Lendl" but Ivan wanted to move on. Source says these amicable partings are never exactly 50-50 even agreed splits. Sony Saturday

sonyeric Marin Cilic lost in straight sets to Vasselin and threw his racquet twice after missing a forehand long on match point in the tiebreak. I have never seen Cilic show any anger on a court before so it was surprising. But he had reason to be upset. Down 36 in the breaker, he battled back to 56 and then hit a forehand which was called out then corrected and indeed it hit the line. EV had no play on it and if the linesperson makes the correct call it's 66, but they replayed the point and Cilic missed and that was that. Team Cilic is outta Miami.
